About Us

Davidson Violins was founded to provide students and players in the Carolinas -and specifically in the Charlotte area- with quality violins, violas, cellos and basses.

We carry a wonderful selection of instruments for rent from beginning through advancing level students.

Our new shop is located in the South Main Arts District in Davidson, NC.

Davidson Violins has many friends in our professional network. If you are in need of a full restoration or want to commission an instrument to be built by a master luthier, please contact us for more information.

Frank Albert, Owner

Frank created Davidson Violins to meet a need for quality instruments in the region. His passion is to see students succeed and flourish, and Davidson Violins is an integral part of several string programs in the area. He has been active in educational environments for 20 years, piloting programs and doing presentations, workshops and recruiting concerts for local string programs.

Frank has devoted himself to learning the technical and historical side of the instruments he loves to play. Every instrument at Davidson Violins is played and evaluated by Frank for its set-up, sound quality and workmanship. Frank plays violin, viola, cello, guitar and a variety of other instruments and performs professionally with the Salisbury Symphony. His sons play violin and cello, both using instruments from our shop, and his wife Lucy serves in financial and inventory management.

Paul Reynolds serves in vintage instrument appraisal and acquisition.

Timothy C. Donley serves in advanced instrument repair and restoration.
