SVX Stingray Electric Violin or Viola
Th SVX Stingray is the latest version of the popular electric violin designed by Mark Wood and manufactured by his company Wood Violins. The SVX is a real electric violin designed for many performing situations including jamming with a rock band or playing on the street or with your rock orchestra. The well designed instrument feels natural in the hand and is very light, unlike electric violins with onboard electronics and batteries. With a lively, strong pickup in the bridge the SVX doesn't need all of the extra parts present in many electric violins. A volume knob and quarter inch input jack result in a violin that is only 1 gram heavier than a normal violin.
Looking for an electric viola The SVX 4-string can be set up by our shop with viola strings (no additional charge), or the SVX 5-string gives the range of viola and violin together (strings on the 5-string are C, G, D, A, E). Keep in mind that the only reason an acoustic viola is larger than an acoustic violin is to reproduce the low C string adequately. With an electric instrument the larger body is not needed. The SVX is easier to play because it is violin scale length without sacrificing the beautiful low sound of a viola C string (on the SVX 5-string or a 4-string set up with viola strings).
