Youth Rock Orchestra Music Camp
July 21-25, 2025
That's right. The Youth Rock Orchestra Music Camp is designed for 21st century music students to explore classic and progressive rock styles on violin, viola, cello and string bass. This is not a camp for orchestra kids to pretend to play rock music. This is a camp designed to teach students how to think like a rock/pop musician and produce an unforgettable performance in 5 days!
Students explore new techniques while reenforcing the ones they already know. Students learn to arrange and compose. They learn to think outside the box and discover their musical voice. And they get to perform with professional rock musicians.
Directors Anne-Marie Samuel and Frank Albert are innovators in their field and have extensive backgrounds as performers, teachers and composers. Both perform on electric violins and arrange and compose music for the camp.
What do we play? As we enter our 10th year we can look back and see all the artists we've explored and performed at our camp: Yes, Kansas, Queen, Rush, Mute Math, Joan Jett, Evanescence, Metallica, Hamilton, Deep Purple, Imagine Dragons and more.
Youth Rock Orchestra Music Camp is hosted at Cannon Camp in Concord, North Carolina. The day camp runs from 9-4 Monday to Friday and ends with our big show at the end of Friday. The beautiful Cindric Performing Arts Center is our home for the week on the campus of Cannon School. To register for the camp please follow this link below.
